As someone who spent two years working as an eternally bored girl with an unlimited amount of books on a cart, I must say that this is a totally uncharacteristic response. Standard Page policy is to pleasantly direct the patron to the reference desk, then watch the reference librarian slowly bang *her* head against the desk after listening to the question.

You mean the reference librarian at where you are actually stays at the desk? Simply amazing. You see, that never happens with me. Sometimes it's fun to direct the patron to another patron who happens to be dressed well, but then they both come to you, a bit upset. You see, that's where the security strips I keep in my pocket come in handy .
