Hi, I just read your article. I live in Norwich and am always looking for interesting walks, you kept mentioning going by water but is there any way of getting there on foot?

I'm afraid most of the surrounding land is quite treacherous on foot due to the swamp carr, and there's no proper route around the place. There are a few roads which pass close by (see http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ie=UTF8&om=1&z=16&ll=52.612886,1.42524&spn=0.006866,0.020084&t=h ) but I wouldn't recommend creeping up on the broad on foot as an interesting walk unless you're of the sort that would climb Striding Edge (http://www.brackenrigg.com/gallery/striding_edge.htm) in a gale. There's an RSPB reserve on the Yare just west of Surlingham (http://www.rspb.org.uk/reserves/guide/s/surlingham/directions.asp), but it's nowhere near the broad.
Alex
