Old Dutch trains tell their own stories
Alfredo Started conversation Oct 25, 2006
In The netherlands, we have in the center the city called, Utrecht.
The Romans already have been there too.
Now Utrecht is the mainport for all the railways and that's the reason why many years ago a museum was build about "trains".
Now,so many years later, it is not only the museum for peoples that are passionate about the mechanics of trains, but the public is fár more mixed then ever before, or in any other museum in Holland.
The museum building was an important railwaystation long time ago,
a royal waiting room included and éverything has been repaired.
The huge museum (very rich;once sponsord by the government) and its sometimes stunning beauty has become a mixture of education and entertainment.
By example; every hour one can listen in a train to a storyteller,
or at the orient express, every hour there is different food from the country it ever crossed and this mixture is spread all over the museum.

Railways Museum wins TourNed Attraction Award 2005
The revamped Railways Museum in Utrecht has been voted the best attraction in the Netherlands in 2005 and has won the ToerNed Attraction Award. The prize was officially presented to Museum Director Paul van Vlijmen on 10 January during the opening of the Holiday Fair in Utrecht. The award consists of a piece of art created by Ton Freens, an artist from Maastricht.
The jury, consisting of managers of other attractions and leisure consultants, decided that the Railways Museum deserved the prize because of the successful way it had found to bridge the gap between the static exhibition of a museum collection and the dynamic world of a theme park. Besides its informative purpose, the Museum also wants its guests to enjoy the experience. And the jury felt that they have fulfil this promise.
The Railways Museum was congratulated on:
the successful elaboration of the concept, which celebrates the highest achievements of the railways,
the use of actors alongside modern technology, giving the museum a dynamic feel,
the way the historic station building - in which the Museum is accommodated - has been renovated to 21st century standards while retaining its 19th century atmosphere,
the activities organised by the Museum, such as Winter Station and a Harry Potter party,
and its attractive and inviting website.
