Aquaplaning
h5ringer Started conversation Oct 17, 2006
Aquaplaning occurs when the wedge of water formed between the leading edge of the forward moving tyre and the ground builds up to the point where the tyre is fractionally lifted off the ground and is therefore no longer in contact with it. Like an ice skater, you are then riding on a thin film of water.
Slow down - it is almost impossible to aquaplane below about 50 mph.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
