A Conversation for 'Help!' - the Film and Album

Born in 1951 I grew up with their music. I can say I am grateful to that. It gave me warmth and inspiration.

But most of the times I did not really like their singles, like "help", "ticket to ride", "paperback writer" etc.

The song 'You've Got to Hide Your Love Away' is for me one of the very best songs of The B.
I accidently read a different theory about the roots of the lyrics.
Lennon may have "played" with the love of Brian while they both were on holiday for a week or two.
Being back in G.B. he wrote the lyrics almost from his unconscious emotions. Paul is always covering up things from the passed, so we will never know "shady" facts in their Beatles history. (I do not mean to say that homosexuality is a "shady" thing).

The song is beautiful, the lyrics even so; so much "soul" in that song, but these flutes; awful and sometimes out of tune.
I had the same irritation with the flute section at "Strawberry fields". It doesn't fit in their songs.

I appear to be the only one, although, who can tell. I never "discussed" or analysed their music.

Also great songs; "I've just seen a face" and ofcourse "Yesterday",
which is a monumental song.

As far a I understand here, the USA releases were indeed pretty lousy.
The Beatles very commercial and I can't understand what reasons they had to do so. But there is no need to know that now.

A few years ago, I saw "Help" (may be for the second time.don't know) at BBC 2 and I was really surprised by their acting. I expected them to act like Elvis in his films, but they really do have an almost convincing way of acting;
they are playing being the Beatles, but they seem to really like it and thát, for me, is convincing.

Greetings from Amsterdam
