snog -- to kiss
The first time I read this in an email from a British friend, I thought she had done considerably more than kiss the fellow she was writing about. Other Americans I questioned were similarly confused.
In a bizarre turnabout, Americans think the term "shag" is considerably more benign than it really is. Otherwise, the second Austin Powers movie (The Spy Who Shagged Me) would probably have been renamed here.*
