as far as I am aware - the correct origin of Bubba is yiddish - it means grandmother and Zeida is grandfather - or the other way around, I can't remember - there it is!

Bubbie is Grandma, and Zadie is Grandpa. (I'm not sure about the spelling there.)

I don't know about anyone else, but in my family 'a Bubba' is a large dumb-looking type. Most commonly found in beat-up pickups at gas stations waiting while their passenger goes in to buy beer..
