A Conversation for A Brief History of Bushfires in Victoria, Australia
Bringing it home

This is a very chilling reminder. I have lived in the Dandenong's since 1980, and at times have had my valuables packed.
Fortunately for me, the fire has never come that close that I had to leave.
I realise that you could not include every fire, and I'm not sure the one I'm thinking about is not the 1985 one. But I remember I was deeply effected by the fire at Lara, and the people who died getting out of their cars on the Geelong road. For a country that has so many fires, we really did not know how to survive them.
Thankyou for a very interesting article.
