All that talk of cold and icy water and blizzards and gales
I think I'll sit christmas out at home in front of a nice log fire
I used to be fool enough to go fishing and have to break the ice to be able to do it. I must've been completely bonkers!

I actually prefer the winter, this years summer will give me hayfever and headaches every day.
I love the rain, thunder, storms and snow. Cold person you could say.

It's the one & only time of year anglers are grateful to boaters; 'cos the boats can break the ice for them nicely in the middle of the channel!

As a boatowner of nearly two years now, I have to say narrowboats are generally nicer in the winter than the summer, when a lot of them can get unbearably hot. Imagine being shut in a car with the windows wound up on a hot day, and you'll get the idea.
If you're home all day and you have the woodburner running all the time (no great inconvenience once you've picked up the knack), it's lovely.
You don't have to worry about midges either.
