Sandra Blakeslee ----- (NY Times, Oct 13 1998, Totally Fictionalized Quote)
----- In 1957, a "Mr. Wright" lay down to wait for death upon his deathbed because a "Dr. Wrong" told him a few cancerous tumors the size of oranges had taken up residence within him and were going to kill him in a few days.
----- But "Mr. Wright" heard somewhere, that some scientists, somewhere else, had themselves a hidden stash of horse serum they called Krebiozen, which could kill tumors, even if they were watermelons, and so he begged "Dr. Wrong" to go get some for him.
----- "Dr. Wrong", wanting to "do the right thing", ran to get some Krebiozen and shot "Mr. Wright" full'a the stuff. The next day "Wrong" found "Wright" dancing around his deathbed with some joking nurses.
----- "Dr. Wrong" looked everywhere inside "Mr. Wright" for those tumors, and found they had melted away like "blueballs on a retired satyr".
----- However, two months later, "Mr. Wright" did the wrong thing, when he read a bunch'a medical reports which all revealed that Krebiozen serum was a quack remedy that wouldn't even work on ducks.
----- He suffered an immediate relapse when the tumors, reading along with him, realized they'd been shamefacedly deceived, and promptly grew right back.
----- Nevertheless, "Dr. Wrong" told him not to believe the report and gave him another injection of what he called "a new super-refined double strength" version of the Krebiozen.
----- The tumorous masses must'a overheard them talking, 'cause they promptly skedaddled out'a there, to escape being manhandled too roughly by that re-enforced Krebiozen, even though "Wrong" had lied to "Wright" and given him only a plain water injection, which would'a only bathed them tumors and made 'em more presentable.
----- For the next two months, "Mr. Wright" remained a pixielated picture of good health, with no tumors for roomers. Then he stumbled upon a definitive report that categorically stated all forms of Krebiozen were worthless wampum and a shameful sham.
----- That herd of tumors must'a heard some rumors, 'cause two days later they got him.
----- He dropped dead.
