Rum the oldest distilled spirit?
bosh, twaddle, nonsense and crap (sounds like a good name for a law firm...)
I suspect the Scots and especially the Irish might have something to say about rum being the oldest distilled alcohol. Surely Brandy goes back more than 300 years. Bushmill's Irish Whiskey claims to be the oldest licensed distillery ca 1604 and that's 400 years. I suspect they were probably making hooch before they got the license.
