Affordable MIDI Software

Post 1

Steve K.

Just a suggestion on low cost (but high quality) MIDI software. For many years, I and several friends have used software from PG Music, including Power Tracks Pro which is a fairly full featured sequencer for $20 - $30. Their best known product is probably Band-in-a-Box, which creates MIDI songs with as little input as a style (rock, pop, country, many many choices) and a chord progression. Originally designed for creating accompaniment tracks, it now includes melody creation routines and many more advanced features. The songs can sound kind of cheesy, but with a little effort and some tweaking, they can be fun to play with. I think its around $100 with add-on styles optional.
