A Conversation for Ana Mendieta - Cuban Artist
Cuban exile program - Operation Peter Pan

Lovely entry about a powerful, groundbreaking artist. One small correction: the program through which Ana and her sister were brought to the U.S. was called Operation Peter Pan (not "Exodus"). It was run by the U.S. State Department, the Catholic church, and private American interests whose Cuban properties had been seized by Castro's government as part of the Revolution. For anyone interested in knowing more, there's a very good book called "Operation Peter Pan: The Untold Exodus of 14, 048 Cuban Children" by Yvonne M. Conde, herself a child exile from the program.
