Hello and welcome to another Super

League Rugby report.

Last week I promised you another Super League

feature game but,
due to very bad traffic, I am forced to only

feature the Origin game. The Super League Feature

will return next week.

The Featured Game - 3rd Origin

game: Yorkshire v Lancashire

Lancashire had been the holders of the

Origin cup since it started 3 years ago, so we were

at their Odsal stadium where they were hopeful of

retaining it for another year. The weather was

better than the last game at home to Saint

Helens1 -

just a few spots of rain falling down on a 8000+

crowd

Yorkshire kicked off and made an early error as the

kick sailed over everyone in the Lancashire side to

go out on the full. Lancashire made some good runs

to the heart of the Yorkshire defence. The

difference in styles was obvious from the start -

Yorkshire using Paul Anderson and their forwards to

batter their way through and Lancashire opting for

the kick and chase. Yorkshire were the first to

make their way over the whitewash with a fantastic

display of passing skills. The Lancashire team just

could not get it together and you were just

wondering how long it would take the well-gelled

Yorkshire team to run in another one.

Well it wasn't long at all with a fantastic run

from Senior who, starting from the halfway line,

ran rings around the Lancashire back line and

touched down. Lancashire were now 12 points adrift.

But the Lancashire team was not down and out just

yet and came back with some good runs; first down

the centre then onto the wings but they just did

not have enough to get across the Yorkshire line.

Yorkshire, showing brilliant handling and passing

skills, found their way over the line twice more

before half time

Half Time: York 30 Lancashire

The fun didn't stop there! At half time it was

the mascot's turn to take each other on as

Yorkshire v Lancashire. Half of them had to put

their heads back on after the tackles. Ronny the

Rhino moon-walked a try to leave the match at 2 all

and celebrated his try with a monkey flip

If Yorkshire thought it was a done deal after

half time they were in for a shock. Lancashire came

out meaning business and business it was as they

scampered over the line to get their first try of

the game in what looked like a massive come back

for the visitors

Yorkshire could have had another when a kick

fooled all the Lancashire team. Paul Anderson just

could not collect the ball that hit the bottom of

the sticks and did not fall for the big Bradford

Bulls player. But after that it really became

Yorkshire's show. With the points came a more

flamboyant Yorkshire team that gave Coulder

Wood2 his second try and

Bradford Bulls own Leon Price collecting his second

of the match. That sent the home team - Yorkshire -

over their half century

The game was played in a fantastic spirit but

both the Bulls fans and the Rhino's neighbours and

rivals could not help but continue the rivalry

between the sets of fans with the chants and songs

that make the derby games what they are

Final Score

Yorkshire 56 Lancashire 6

Congratulations to the 3rd Origin

And better luck next time Lancashire
