When does slavery begin?

When you start doing nothing but what someone else tells you to do

and you have no life of your own.

Once upon a time a bunch of rich white people decided that black slavery was wrong.

A little while later their women, stricken by the irony of the situation, demanded the same rights as the freed slaves.

The rich white men had a little problem with that.

And then the natives got a little upset about the fact that they didn't have any rights.

Everybody had a problem with that.

People have been talking against smoking since the cigarette was first invented. People have been talking against alcohol since the first vat was decanted. People have been warning against drugs, sex, rock and roll...

Oh, that reminds me. Automobile safety, the other great cause of the twentieth century. What automobile safety? If you take a 1936 Ford Coupe and drive it at 35 MPH into a 2006 Ford Taurus that is also going 35MPH, which vehicle will survive and which driver will suffer the least? Think about that. Picture it in your head. Take that image with you when you buckle up and trundle on down the highway.

Or me?
