I've always liked Thurso. I'm from Sutherland just next door to Caithness and am a frequent visitor to the town of Thurso as my disabled son has respite care in Thor House there, a local authority facility. I have to mention that it has at least one very good fish and chip shop which we seem to visit every time we're there. It has an interesting mix of shops as was stated without being too much like your average town center. Glad to see it being given a mention here.
