They're called 'footpaths' for a reason. Look on the map- is the path you want marked as a dotted green line, the dashes being short? Then don't cycle on it. Are there little stubs on the dashes? Then i's a bridleway, you can cycle on it.

Cycling on footpaths is illegal, dangerous, tears up paths not designed for bikes, and is bloody annoying for walkers that nearly get knocked over when you whizz past, spraying mud everywhere.

Something of a pet peeve of mine. I'll admit I was guilty of it when I was a child- I didn't think of the paths 'round our village as footpaths, just as small, muddy roads smiley - laugh

Exactly. It's the latter I rage against on footpaths. Go and get your own playground.
