a very interestng read
what i was wondering was when you type something in a search engine how does it determind which sites come first on the list? do websites have to pay some sort of subscription so they get higher on the list?
iv always wanted to know that!

Hi Diddy!
I don't know about most search engines, but I can tell you about Google. It keeps a note of every link from one website to another. The websites that have lots of links to them are considered more important. It sorts the search results by this "importance rating" so that sites which people on the web consider important come first.
