I'm inclined to think the word 'necrophilia' should have stayed in the title, lest people should wonder who this chap might be and get a macabre surprise.

I don't think I could get any further than the 'that's for the editors' point you've already reached; but feel free to point out that you're not the only person who thinks the title is now inadequate.
The timing seems rather ironic, with the Infinite Improbability Drive having recently been renamed apparently to clarify its purpose...
