Balls to whomever wrote this about comping. 90 miles an hour off road? you having a laugh? Its very rare for the hillrally or borc entrants to get to that speed off road - on a flatter surface.

Yes, the comps are specifically set out to reduce the speeds, but we have a maximum time, not a minimum time. It's blatently obvious that if someone with a smaller engine and less comp spec turns up one minute faster than the usual suspects that they have cut the course, not by exceeding the speed.

Having been comping and navigating for a number of years now it makes me so cross when someone who has clearly never attended an event presumes to write up about it. Why not ask those who know what they are talking about.

This article makes out Comp Safari drivers to look like lunatics who are nothing more than speed freaks. We work so hard with ALRC and MSA to give a good image of ourselves. We behave impecably on sites and take every opportunity to limit any potential damage to land owners property.

If you wanna go off road at 90 miles an hour then you'd better have big pockets, because your land rover will never last one event at that speed.

If you dont believe me then I recommend you try it yourself. Maybe buy a fancy but flimsy mattserati or bowler, I guarantee you wont make the finish.
