Why thank you. I had quite a bit of fun writing it. H2G2 has been a bit stodgie and dry of late, and I'm very happy to have lightened things up a tad.

I'm impressed you got away with keeping the title, as well. It seems just the sort of thing that TPTB would disapprove of.

They did change the title a bit. I had "Alan Smithee: Director... sort of"... which changed to "of sorts..." An improvement I think. But I know what you mean.. I was surprised as well. TPTB do seem to prefer the stodgie.

I should add that it was a real pleasure to read and approve this one. As is probably quite well-known on here, I love film-related entries, and this one's got that special h2g2 oddness about it. Well done!

Thanks, Jimster. I enjoyed writing it. I heard about Smithee years ago right after the Dune debacle. (They added almost an hour of out-takes in no particular order and with little consideration to the story for the TV edit... it was quite dreadful.) I've kept an eye out for Smithee since then. Now that the DGA has changed its rules, I thought it was time for an obit. I also felt it needed that bit of quirkiness that HooToo has been known for.
