Living in a country with very cold winters (Sweden) I've found that adding a little bit of whisky in hot chocolate warms me up really well...
...and tastes heavenly - even better than Irish Coffee (which is great for warming you up too)

or finely grated almonds for scrunchy chocolate
or a swirl of spray cream to finish it off
or melting an after eight chocolate in it for a minty flavour
