'May you live in interesting times' is certainly a very useful phrase - I use it myself occasionally - so this Entry was informative smiley - biggrin

The phrase is well known in relation to Star Trek as well as Pratchett - the connection is mentioned here http://thepsychologist.bps.org.uk/volume-26/edition-6/society

Galaxy Babe mentioned "Some Star Trek trivia for you:
I know I watched a Trek episode recently where when the captain and the protagonist were talking privately over the com, the alien commander wished him to live in interesting times. I thought it was Picard and a Romulan but can't find any reference online."

I can vaguely recall this myself, but not any more specific details either...

Galaxy Babe also mentioned Star Trek: Voyager:
Captain Kathryn Janeway: So - has Neelix concocted anything interesting this morning?
Ensign Harry Kim: There's an ancient Chinese curse, Captain: "May you live in interesting times". Mealtime is always interesting, now that Neelix is in the kitchen.

smiley - laughsmiley - ok
