...I am already sick of Valentines. smiley - brokenheart

It's February 12th and I'm sick and tired of love hearts smiley - love and pink and red and adverts proclaiming the importance of being in a couple and spending as much money as one can on February 14th.

The reason - bar the traditional single, never had a valentine of any form reasons and my belief that it really is a day for shops and show offs - is I've been cutting out hearts for the window at work all weekend and stringing them together. By my self. Despite my little sister's supposed shared responsibility for the window.

Anyway, normally we avoid a valentines window, which has the longevity of a mayfly however - stuck for ideas - we're doing a heart themed window, but specifically making it stay up for February as it is National Heart Awareness Month. And problems with your heart and high blood pressure can affect your eyes and vision. So this year we're making the exception.

My annoyance is probably jealousysmiley - envy, I'm twenty seven and as I've said, have never had a valentine, and I would love nothing more than to have a boyfriend to give the anti-valentines rant too whilst secretly hoping for a bunch of supermarket freesias...but right now, after spending four days cutting out multicoloured hearts, I feel more annoyed by the day than in previous years.

The window will probably only end up being up a week or two before the "haven't you taken down your valentines decorations?" comments get too much.

Why is it when you need to work out a few projects in advance, it's always the ones months away that you have ideas for and not the one you're most desperate to get sorted? smiley - sigh

Poor Em smiley - brokenheart

smiley - cuddlesmiley - cupidsmiley - hug

I wish I lived on the other side of the ocean, was young, single and could bring a singe smiley - rose to
you door so it could be ashamed to be so outdone by your own beauty.

Alas I am an old man across the sea who can only wish you the very best!

A good friend makes a much better life-long companion than a passionate fling.

Here's looking at you kid!

smiley - cheers

P.S. My Wife said it was smiley - ok to send you a sweet valentine, even though I didn't ask!

Sorry I'm a bit late on this! Valentine's Day is nothing more than an excuse for shops to make money nowadays so it doesn't really mean much. I didn't get a Valentine until I was in my early 20s so I know how you feel. The first few were really exciting, and to some extent still are, but what became clear was that it was only one day out of 365. If you feel you have to make a fuss then, it may be that you're not attending to your relationship properly on the other days. As to your wish to have a boyfriend, it's perfectly natural. However, the friend part needs to come first otherwise the rest doesn't work. There will be someone who knows you now or will know you in the future who'll suddenly realise they want to take a friendship one stage further and all you have to do is remain open to that idea. Until then, just know that you are very special and that anyone would be lucky to have you as their girlfriend.
