Just when you thought it was safe to go into teh interwebs...yes, I've set up a blog. I've been inspired by the success of Sho's blog; and I've been getting numerous requests for updates about how things are going from h2g2, facebook, email, and phone, from friends, relatives, and weirdos off t'internet.
So, I've started my blog here: http://rorywellingtonboots.blogspot.com/
I'm going to update it with all the things I'm doing, whilst taking the opportunity to point out, in a humorous (I hope 
) way, all the things that they do diffrunt down here. First thing I've noticed: the 
is upside down! 
So, please read, enjoy, comment (either here or on the blog - or both! ) and add it to your favourites. I'm still experimenting with layouts and stuff so it may change a bit from time to time, but hopefully it'll settle down soon.

Arrival

I have landed in Wellington, and had a good night's sleep, so now I'm fully onto NZ time. Still struggling with internet and other communications in the new flat, but I hope to resolve that soon. It's windy and rainy here.

I'm booked on a flight to Wellington on Saturday night. Due to the vagaries of the NZ immigration people, this is on a tourist visa. I am planning to sort out my work and residence status once I'm there - apparently it's much quicker than trying to do so from here.
If anyone can make it, I'll probably be having a few beers in the Ship & Whale on Friday night.

Departure

My Significant Other, known variously as HI (Her Indoors) or Remarkable Firefly, has departed this country for evermore, to set up a new life in New Zealand. I've been left behind to pack up the flat, let it, and get myself a visa so I can follow as soon as possible.
But tonight (and every night from now on until I get out to NZ) I'm on my own, and feelin' lonesome...
