Knock knock...

Who's there?

Armageddon

Armageddon who?

Armageddon outta here!

Well, for a week or so, anyway. I'm off on my holidays, to the land of foreign, by the seaside, where it's slightly warmer than a wet weekend in February.

I'd like to thank my agent, my co-star, my parents, and most of all B'Elana, who made the whole thing possible!

See you all in about mid-March. And remember, whilst I'm away...*NO PARTIES IN MY PS!*

RF

p.s. I'll send you a postcard.

Bands, eh? Who do they think they are?

OK, time for a rant...

I like The Fratellis. Who doesn't? They play cool, groovy tunes with a bit of postmodern humorous lyricism.

So far as I know, they've had one hit...Chelsea Dagger. One. That's right. ONE.

So how come they're advertising their gigs next year for the horrific price of £17.50 a ticket? That's £17.50, plus "service charge", plus "handling costs" plus "postage" (surely a "handling cost", no? smiley - erm) ends up around £50 for a pair of tickets.

Guys, I like you...but not that much. Seems like you're trying to make a fast buck out of transient success.

Days Left This Year

Today, I calculated that there are 38 days left this year...and I have to be at work for 19 of them.

Yay! Only working for 50% of the remaining days this year! Now *that's* what I call a "work/life balance"!

In To View

When I had my last meaningful discussion with my manager, we discussed future career options. One of these was to work for the then-nascent Structured Finance team. After much to-ing and fro-ing, (including 2 interviews and one "informal chat") the job descriptions which were originally proposed were withdrawn, and drawing-boards were again in demand.

Fast-forward 6 months...the manager in question has now left (only last week) and another person has been promoted to his role. My ambition to join the SF team remains, and I've had further discussions with my ex-manager, my new manager, and the Risk Director (my manager's manager), as well as both the people who comprise the SF team.

A new role was proposed last week, reporting directly to the Risk Director. I immediately applied. Tomorrow at 9, I have an interview with the Risk Director.

This is a guy I see and chat with most days at work - most of our Senior Managers are very approachable (benefit of being in a small company I suppose). Yet, I'm feeling quite nervous tonight. So far as I know, no-one else has applied, and he encouraged me to do so...not quite sure what format tomorrow's meeting will take. I'm fairly certain it won't be like going to an interview at an external company.

That Hurt

On Friday, I had bought a filled roll form my usual sandwich vendor. Chicken, mozzarella and SDT since you ask...

There was something in it that I bit down on...how come is it than when there's a foreign body in your food, that's when you do a particularly hard "CHOMP" down on it?

Normally, this causes a bit of inconvenience, jarring sensation, goes away after a bit.

At 5 o'clock of that day I was at my dentist's, having suffered an afternoon of pain. I had an x-ray, and it was confirmed that the tooth isn't cracked/broken. I was given* some mouthwash and an over-the-counter spray-on anti-inflammatory pain-killer. (Gosh, count the hyphens! smiley - winkeye)

My tooth still hurts, and the gum around it is still inflamed. I'm taking aspirin for the pain.

Should I be worried? Am I about to lose a tooth? Will it get better? What is the meaning of life?

* Or *sold at an exorbitant price*, if you prefer.
