You wouldn't think it to look at me today, but I had a genteel upbringing in a wealthy family and I was the apple of my daddy's eye. Destined for luxury and a happy marriage, I was.

Where was I? Oh yeah, I actually went on a luxury steamer with my mama to London and got presented to the Queen. Debutante of the year, I was. Have you ever been to London? Well, it's easier to travel these days. They let anybody on board, and I don't mean steerage.
*reaching for the bottle* So I came back to New York City and mama was holding balls every week, either in town or at the beach house in the Hamptons. I had a new gown for every party and more beaux then there's outlaws in this two-bit excuse for a town... *tosses back a 3rd drink*
Then HE showed up. Mysterious, rakish, great big diamond in his cravat, a shiny brougham with two matched black mares. Oh what a handsome swell he was, sitting upright with the reins and whip just so, them pale green leaves fluttering in the breeze. Said he was a banker from California and had a wallet that didn't brook no disagreements!
*reaches for the bottle again and keeps it this time* Well, who wouldn't have fallen for the Celery? All my girlfriends were swooning over him, but he only had eyes for me. And my trust fund.
You don't need to hear the details, do you? *drinks straight from the bottle* Yeah? Simple. We eloped. And it turned out he was already married to a woman called Doris Webjello. And my money is all gone, and here I am.
*lays her head down on the brass counter and passes out*
