Right, er, an introduction. Well, I've been at the University of Chicago for about 4 weeks now and I love it. Someone is making popcorn right now.Interests
College
I'm taking Latin, Greek Thought and Literature, Power,Identity and Resistance, and Atmospheric Chemistry and Air Quality this quarter. Right now, my plan is to double concentrate in Classics and Environmental Studies (with the focus on political and social aspects). Then, I'll go into law school, and eventually get into politics. That's the plan anyway. You'll know it worked if you ever vote Murphy for president.Books
Let's see...I'm also interested in books. I love all sorts of them. Let's see, The Hitchhiker's books, obviously, as well as both Dirk Gently books, Pride and Prejudice, On the Road, etc. For some reason I'm completely blanking out on some of my favourite books.Libraries, Public Transportation and Hello Kitty
Also, I have a strange obsession with libraries. I practically live in them, between the one at university and the public one. I seem to have a rather unhealthy love of public transportation, too. I took the bus to and from school every day (1 hour each way) last year, and this summer I took the bus to work (also an hour each way. My mom finally made me get my license two days before I left for school As though all of this wasn't enough to qualify my as clinically insane, I have an enormous collection of Sanrio paraphenalia (, most of it Hello Kitty or Badtz Maru...although I've taken quite an interest in Nyago recently. Hence my researcher name, which has nothing to do with anything remotely related to Hitchhiker's stuff.Random Stuff
Let's see...since I've been here I've been to the Art Institute of Chicago, the Hot House, the Museum of Science and Industry, the John Hancock Building, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Court Theater, and a few (mostly bad) movies. I love my dorm. It's old and beautiful and has very high ceilings with lots of woodwork.Latest Messages
