Hi Dmitri smiley - hug

I have subbed the recommended article here: A87873033 <--- please don't forget to subscribe!smiley - towel

Thanks for writing another very interesting Entry!

Just one query: >>grrrl power version of the old song<< you did mean to spell girl power that way to accentuate the "grrr"? (Is what I think, but I'm just checking)smiley - ta

The miming in that video is awful, by the way. My daughter could have done bettersmiley - laugh

My parents were also fans of "The Black & White Minstrel Show" which was favourite Sunday night viewing in our house. They collected all the LPs too, sigh. Mum has never disposed of any of Dad's stuff, my siblings and I are gradually getting rid of what can be recycled and it's coming up ten years this November, since he left us. His record & album collection has yet to be touched. The stereo equipment is just as he left it (although it does get dusted). Must go to Mum's now. But I'll be back. smiley - run

Hey, there! Thanks for this - subscribed. smiley - ok

Er, yeah - 'grrrl power' is actually a term, I think from punk rock music, for a certain kind of rambunctious feminism:

There's a webcomic that spells it with only two rr's, must be a new phase:

The 'grrrl' part is growling, I think.

I guess what those dancers lack in talent, they make up for in enthusiasm.

Hang onto those Black and White albums - someday they might be collectibles, I imagine. smiley - rofl

What's interesting is that at the same time that was running in Britain, what WE had was 'Sing Along with Mitch Miller'. Mitch and his gang sang corny old songs - but were busy making TV history by breaking down the race barrier. You see, their 'girl singer' was a very young Leslie Uggams, and she was dynamite:
