Constellations Project

Hi there Cefpret You may be aware that there is a possibility that the h2 university will reopen. Re: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/F19585?thread=663311&skip=0&show=20 I was wondering if you may consider taking up the 'Constellations' project again under the new Uni auspices. After our previous conversations I quite understand if you do not, but if that is the case and you have no objection, I think that I would like to take it further myself to try to eventually get completion. As far as I am concerned it will depend on getting a certain amount of help, but if you are agreeable I will take on the organisation of the project. All the best DK. (Austin Morris)

Hi again, smiley - smiley
This is just to bump my previous note to the top of your convo list again.

Also, as I think you've answered previous science related questions, I'd like to draw your attention to a new project on h2 that may interest you.
It's Science Explained, A4108330 (SEx for short) and your expertise would probably be valuable there.

Just a thought. All the best
DK

I really don't have time to work for h2g2. However, this doesn't mean that I couldn't contribute.

I must admit that my personal main motivation for the constellation project were the star maps. Unfortunately, the preconditions for including maps into the entries were unacceptable because:

* They would have been way too small (h2g2 seemed to assume that everybody was still using the Internet via 14k modems)

* I would have had to become a community artist and would have had to submit every of the 88 maps to the CA's peer review scheme.

The funny thing is that with my current software I could provide h2g2 with 88 highest-quality constellation maps with arbirary size, colours, fonts, image formats, and stellar density within two hours. No copyrights. But I won't go through this stubborn process again. It's not about bitterness but about my little spare time at the moment.

I can't be a "pseudo"-editor for the constellation project any longer. If anybody wishes to take the job, I'll help with the transition.
