Hi! I'm melisatankgirl but you can call me Mel. I'm originally from Los Angeles but I have lived for the past five years among the beautiful redwood trees in Humboldt County, CA.
I am a nerd by trade and in my free time. I have a BA in Journalism from Humboldt State University but I currently work in the tech department at an internet marketing company.
In my spare time I enjoy doing ballet and yoga in the hopes of becoming a strong, graceful lady. While I still can't get my foot behind my head or sometimes even touch my toes, it's worth a try, right?
I am a passionate writer and explorer. I maintain my own blog on nerdy culture called Mega Nerd Queen. It can be found here: meganerdqueen.blogspot.com I mostly write about nerd culture, movies, books, television and music on that page. It is my goal to become Queen of the Internet but that would be overthrowing Felicia Day. As an explorer, I enjoy taking long road trips often under silly pretenses and mostly for the sake of exploration.
In writing for The Guide, I intend to focus on food, my travels, movies and books.
