I'm fairly certain that the cooker got the skiing idea from a vacation magazine left behind by Wallace, not a transmission. His (its?) picture of himself skiing is projected over his head like a bad transmission.

Erm...I think it was a combination of the two. I definitely remember GDO featuring 'live' skiing footage, which presumably was picked up by the cooker/parking meter/annoying metal thingy.

He looked at the skiing magazine, seen the holiday, tuned himself in to some T.V station and imagined himself skiing about like a nutter.
