Just to clarify, an ad hominem attack is not necessarily a logical fallacy. If I say "your justification of killing babies is morally reprehensible, you bastard!" I have made an ad hominem attack but it is not claiming that the person being a bastard is why killing babies is morally reprehensible and is not therefore fallacious.
