A Conversation for Liverpool, Merseyside, UK

Liverpool folk-songs, Liver Birds, and food

Lyverbird

Hello from Lyverbird, to SAM, really.
Couple of things to offer about the Liverpool England UK page, which is very interesting, nicely written, and surely open to some additions - you can't sum up this great city that quickly.

Here we go...
if you want lots more of the words of "Liverpool Home," and of lots more Liverpool folk-songs, here's the very page for you;

take what you like - just acknowledge,please.

Same goes for Liver Birds...
there's buckets of info about them in the pages starting here;

Help yourself.

Finally; food;
as well as scouse, there should be mention of "Wet Nellies" (Nelson Cakes if you talk posh, "belly-wedges" if you don't.) Two layers of pastry filled with a dark mash of yesterday's cake left-overs, mashed up with treacle. Delicious.

There is a move afoot to devise a "Liverpool Tart" - or maybe call it a "Liverpool Judy" or even a "Tilly Mint" (q.v.)
and, guess what, I've got a Page about it...

Let's hope it'll be in the shops and the cook-books for 2008.

All the best,
Lyverbird.
