More Public Space!
The bots worked hard overnight to block off that central skylight and insert a set of smaller lights to iluminate the guest rooms. Then they removed all evidence of my old rooms. Now the central salon is lots bigger and we have a separate library, accessed through an open archway. I added some representation of the furniture; the beloved red velvet sofas, two long tables against the wall that we pull out for our frequent feasts, and dining chairs lining the walls. A screen hides the hallway leading to three of the guest rooms.
The kitchen is in the same place, but the broom closet has been changed slightly for easier access from the kitchen, and it now doubles as a pantry. Visitors paying morning calls walk a little further now, to leave their calling cards. The gallery and facilities are unchanged.
Where the Private Space Went
I moved my rooms and studio to a corner where I could get more light, and where I have a nice view of Moxon Wood from my studio. Also, I can see right across the veranda and get an idea of who's visiting when I'm at work.
There are now 6 guest rooms (I haven't shown the details of furniture and private bath -- maybe I'll do that in a future revision), and four other suites besides mine.
The suite that is currently farthest to the right belongs to Odradek. The Dhyana-Mudra Suite is accessed through a narrow foyer with a storage closet on the side, and one steps into a light airy room with lovely views of forest, with the Temple of the Guide visible in the far distance. The second room is darker and distinctly oriental in character, but does have one-way windows on to the corridor, admitting some light. She has a top-of-the-line Jacuzzi in the bathroom.
As of this page update, Styx has established a lair halfway down the spiral stairs to the mosh pit. And apparently I have a wormhole in the linen closet on the Long Corridor.
The Veranda and Gardens
As you can see, the veranda is accessible from both ends; you don't need to come indoors to come on up! French doors open on to the veranda from the salon, the library and my studio, A border garden hugs the edge of the veranda, and there is a rock garden with small waterfalls in the center of the area.
Who's Downstairs?

My landlord is the firm of Crater Labs, Inc. Two genial yet mysterious gentlemen, Afgncaap5 and Garius Lupus, are the owners of this firm. I don't know the whole of what goes on down there; all I know is that, periodically, I suddenly find that my floor space has increased. I have drawn a plan showing all that I know about CLI>
There is a humongous lobby area with a wide front entrance and a smaller side hallway which leads to the side door and stairs to the atelier. Ampton's office is situated along this hallway, and behind that office is a sort of conference area. A closet along the side offers an alternate exit -- I don't think I have ever seen GL and Affi go into a room that wasn't well-guarded or that had alternate exits! Additionally there is a sort of closet or cubicle in a corner of this room which is a mystery to me. I know I was in Ampton's office (a sort of general office really, although Ampton seems to be in it most of the time) once and saw Affi enter the cubicle. And I don't recollect him coming out again. Although there are no windows downstairs, the conference does have a pair of flat screens on the wall by means of which they can apparently view any part of the exterior.
Anyway, there is a massive fieldstone wall at the back of the lobby with a solid model of the CLI logo mounted high up. This is actually the base of the chimney in my salon, but it is much wider. There are usually a couple of securibots behind the desk, and more in the checkpoint room behind. I know about the lab rooms and open area behind the security area because brownie testing went on in one of them, and Matina was remodelled in the other. And Affi had a portal set up in that intermediate area beside the labs. Beyond that, the interior is cloaked.
I didn't even realise that there were massive doors set in the side of the building until I happened to be around when the monkeys were delivered. The door to the receiving area opens down. Garius told me that the door is controlled in either of two ways -- by a securibot from the security center, or by Garius or Affi themselves. He wouldn't say how. But he did say that they have their own side entrance for hangaring the UFO, and only they have access to that entrance. Beyond that, I know nothing of stairs or lifts or how they get the big stuff in and out of the warehouse area. There are basements, but I don't know how to get to them. Styx probably does.
The only other parts of the lab that are open to the general public are the facilities and a rather utilitarian galley. I think Garius and Affi have offices, but those are somewhere behind the labs.
