I am currently working on an entry about the Erie Canal...if anyone actually visits this page (well, other than one particular person ), and you have information about the canal, particularly tourism and its other uses today, please post the info here. For some reason I always choose big complicated topics to write about...but I suppose someone should do it...and anyway, this will go along nicely with my NYS Thruway entry...
Any help is greatly appreciated - I'd like to get this done as soon as possible
Oh, and another thing... I know there are a few Central New Yorkers around this place - I think we need a guide entry about the area - there's so much to write about, but there's absolutely no way I could do it all...
Hasta luego

(I'm just putting the words to the canal song here so I don't lose them...)
"Low Bridge, Everybody Down"
(written by Thomas Allen, 1905)
I've got a mule and her name is Sal,
Fifteen miles on the Er-ie Can-al,
She's a good ol' worker and a good ol' pal,
Fifteen miles on the Er-ie Can-al,
We've hauled some barges in our day,
Filled with lumb-er, coal and hay,
And ev'ry inch of the way we know
From Al-ba-ny to Buff-a-lo OH
[chorus]
Low bridge, ev'ry bod-y down,
Low bridge, for we're com-in to a town,
And you'll al-ways know your neighbor,
You'll al-ways know your pal,
If you've ever navigated on the Er-ie Ca-nal
lol now I have the tune stuck in my head...
