to people who are elderly or disabled. Despite having pretensions to both (I'm nearly 72 and waiting for a hip replacement), I was pleasantly surprised when a young man with a face full of metal, including a ring through his nose, leapt to his feet this evening.

I usually find it's the really scary looking ones who are kind to kittens and visit their grannies for a cup of tea every week

hey! that's me! 
I do occisonally have found myself in odd position of giving up... or trying to give up my seat... then getting into an 'I'm more disabled/older/infirm thatn you' kinda fight whifh is always amusing
