I had to make a condolence phone call to someone I haven't actually seen for 23 years in the course of which she asked me if I was happy. I said "yes", because there were several cans of worms I didn't want to open there, but am I? I don't know.

Surely an impossible question to answer? I suppose you can be relatively happy if your relatives are happy ...but then how do they know whether they're happy?
This may be recursive....

Stopped to pick up my lunch from Billy the baker who told me today that I am the happiest person he knows. So that's one less question to worry about.
