Hi Shazz, and thanks for your messages. In answer to your question, the music paper I used to work for was "Melody Maker". For roughly the first five years of my time there I was a general all-purpose writer, and then latterly I worked on the news pages. For most of my time there it was a lot of fun. Sadly, it all turned sour in the last two years after a change of ownership. The new owners imposed a new editor with instructions to dumb the paper down drastically, in a doomed bid to appeal to particularly dim-witted 12-15 year-olds. Jobs were cut ruthlessly, most of my old friends either left or were sacked, and eventually I too got the push.
Which was just as well. By the end I hated the job so much that it was making me ill. Although I've been skint at times, I can honestly say that I've enjoyed life much, much more since parting company with "MM". I've actually remembered how to relax!
As for the Virtual Mayor campaign, I still can't get past the "discuss" panel on Fenchurch's page - but now there's no need. You see, I had been planning to nominate Fenchurch, but looking at her page I notice that someone has already done so. Clearly I'm not the only one who feels that London could benefit hugely from her guidance and her amazing fish-creating powers.
I'd still like to help with her campaign, though. Perhaps I'll drop her a line and offer my services as her spin doctor!

I am a music teacher,so that was why I inquired about the Music Mag...I know what you mean about the dumbing down process.....I think that too many people out there think that we have all become more dumb over the years!
