Where has my English humour gone?

Has anyone heard about the War of the World radio play? It was played in the US in the 1950's and while being transmitted people actually believed that the Earth was being invaded my aliens! This caused mass panic around the US at the time!
Well, this evening I was telling my children to stop watching TV when they made me aware of a news story on childrens' German television programme. I watched it only with one eye until the children told me that from next Monday school children had to start school at 7 in the morning. They did a number of interviews, with cuts to ministers (even Mrs Merkel) all very convincing.
I began getting angry ... I've got a problem about getting up and getting my children off to school at 8.
I then left the room and stormed towards my wife and started to explain what I saw ... then my children came along and told me it was not true. Now ... naturally I was pleased to hear this; surprised to see this type of humour on German TV; but disappointed that I was duped.
Have I been in Germany too long?

Funny coincidence, we've only just been talking about the WotW radio play here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/F48874?thread=4937306 What programme were you watching? Logo, on ZDF?

I really didn't see what they were watching ... normally they are allowed to watch KIKA or CBBC! I just tried to find the article but still haven't found a copy.
I hate getting up in the morning ... especially with it being so dark and cold (inspite of my wake up light!)

I guess it was Logo then, which I seem to recall being broadcast on Kika and on Sundays? on ZDF or soemthing. It's been years since I last watched Kika with my sons.
It just shows how gullible we all are, eh?

True ... but your children are a little older, if I remember correctly. Any snow where you are? Or is it also -2°C?

It's been very cold here today, but we don't have snow.

I have to start back on Monday ... until then, I'd like some snow!
What happened with that nice Christmas present from your boss?

You mean the money? It's in an envelope, together with the money I got from my m-i-l. Plus, I found tow €5.- bills on the floor in the shop the week before Christmas, and nobody has comne to claim them, so that will go into the envelope, too, once I remember to take it home. That makes a total of €90 now, not bad, eh? I just hope we'll settle for 26th April as the date for the meet.

I was once island hopping in Greece and spent all my money and found a few drachmas on the beach ... sometimes things happen! Or don't you believe it luck? Schicksal? Or the whole spirtual side of gaining money?

I don't really know how to describe it ... I've got the whole film on DVD (in English, naturally). I guess you could describe it as an inspirational self-help video?
