I had a really, really good weekend. I only smoked 11 cigarettes between Friday morning and Monday, wasn't really craving too much, feeling fit and much healthier. I even went to the gym and had a fairly major aerobic workout which I haven't had the lung capacity for for a long time. Then had a few wines at a little social gathering, in fact nine glasses in all on Sunday night, and for some reason just started smoking again on the hangover. Why, when I'm feeling awful anyway, do I have the urge to feel worse with a smoke? Maybe its the stimulant, bit like having a coffee. Anyway, am only up to a dozen a day (had a few beers Tuesday and a Devon Wildlife Trust social on Wednesday) but it still feels pretty bad. For some reason I'm finding it harder to fight the urge to have one and give in to it really easily. Perhaps I just need to be careful what I'm drinking and get my diet better again; feeling invigorated with loads of fresh fruit was a good feeling.
Think it's just been a long, tiring week but more bad excuses won't help

I think for the time being at least you need to avoid situations where you would normally have a smoke. So if you always have one when you get back from work and sit in a certain chair, go do something in the kitchen or read a book. Take care of your diet and social stuff to avoid the feeling of "oh well it's okay because I'm....out with friends, everyone is smoking...whatever".
And BE STRICT!!! Do you REALLY want to give up? If you do, then stick with it. Otherwise it's like starting loads of books and then abandoning them a quarter of the way through. You never get anything from it.
Get it down to 9.
Orrr....throw all your cigerettes, lighters etc away and REFUSE to buy yourself any new cigerettes. If you dont have them...can't smoke them.
Oh and because you might need it

But I have a smoke when I'm writing entries....
Nine is a good target. Single figures; I'll manage that today, then get out after the early shift, have a climb and go home for a good fruity vegetabley dinner. Good plan. One day at a time.
Can't throw away all my smoking paraphernalia as I bought a lot of it travelling - I've got ashtrays from Nepal, Peru and India! I could hide them all, I suppose
And have a yourself, sounds like you need one as much as me

You could get a friend to look after it all maybe? And just throw away everything directly linked....so...if you give up smoking then you wont be needing fags, or a lighter, but other people may want an ashtray.
Now you don't smoke while writing entries
What time is it?

Definately not time for a fag
I also have a lighter from when I lived in Tenerife and another from Peru. I can get rid of everything else, even the tin (but what if someone shoots me? Maybe I should carry the tine around just in case. No, that's just silly)
