This is a wonderful place, but I feel like the dot in the picture - a tiny particle in a huge moving universe which I only partly understand. Hours of fascination stretch ahead. Will it be too much??

We've all be new once, and nervous and overwhelmed by the size of the site.
If you click on our names you can find out a bit more about us, including where we're talking. Have a lurk on other people's conversations and see where the people that you think you'd like to hang out with are chatting.
There's lots of places on h2g2 for lots of different things, ask h2g2, is well almost everything, The Forum A1146917 tries to be grown up version of Ask h2g2.
