I want to apologise unreservedly to those whom I have offended in the last few days. I'm not offering excuses, as my misdemeanors are inexcusable. I'm not asking forgiveness, as they are unforgivable. However, I /am/ offering some sort of explanation. I'm one of those unfortunate people who think they're being mildly amusing, but whose opinion is shared by nobody else. I make what, to me, is a huge joke, and it falls solidly, literally, like a lead balloon. Foot-in-mouth is my default position. This has been the case since early childhood. Despite regular warnings by parents, teachers and, later, friends, I have failed to learn the lesson. I am, therefore, completely humiliated to find this trait still active despite my advanced years, and I apologise most sincerely.

Me too!
I cannot imagine you doing anything like what you described - if someone has misinterpreted anything that you have said surely, if you explain yourself it will all be ok.
Personally, if it was me I would just say "Sorry if you misunderstood me - now let's get on with it."

Thanks all. A great relief. I think I'll just go into a corner and lick my wounds. Backson, as Christopher Robin says (or used to) Many many more thanks. Feel better already!!

Has someone had a go at you, because I can't for the life of me see what you have said that anyone could take exception to here. Whatever it is appears to have bothered you quite a bit so if you want to email me here: twirlysixtyatyahoodotcodotuk perhaps we can have a chat. Change the sixty to figures, the at to @ and the dot to a fullstop each time.

SD - not that I think you would ever need it, but did you know that there is a smiley to go with the smiley - though how anyone could have a foot in mouth and tongue in cheek at the same time is beyond me
Now, nose to the grindstone, shoulder to the wheel, head down, bum up - and if you can get anything done in that position you deserve

'not that I think you would ever need it,'
Mmmmmmmmmmmm. Yes, I've seen it, and never thought I'd need it!!! I hope I never do, even in my own eyes. 'Fails to meet his own minimal standards'
I've dunfer a tendon in my knee (far more painful than hip replacements - of which I've had more than my share), so I'm milking it for all it's worth. The filth rises round me as I watch. The fridge, well, better not go there, and the bathroom - need I go on? You, in your ivory tower, enjoy your washing, scrubbing, supermarketing.....
Apology
Websailor Posted Apr 11, 2008
Supermarketing done - enjoyed? No!
Sorry to hear you have tendon trouble in your knee. it seems to me knees are more bother than hips.
Glad to see you back to your normal self here.

Oh boy! do I know about dodgy knees!! My knees have been my excuse for years of not going to church
You have my sympathy and you should milk it while you can

seraphicDigitalis Posted Apr 13, 2008
As far as replacements go, I've always been very grateful not to need them; all those I've witnessed have been dreadful, but this is ONLY (sorry for shouting) a tendon!!!!!
Admittedly, it's my own diagnosis, but it's exactly the same as the Achilles that I shot a couple of years ago, and I Don't Like It.
Having warbled all that, I must confess that it's heaps better now, and I'm almost, repeat almost, embarrassed about the fuss I'm making!!
each!

Do either of you remember when the London Meet is due? About now, I think.
Not that I plan to go, I'm too busy on the marathon

No, it's the 26th. Just found the page. I do have bother getting around!
A propos, as we say in the Clever Books, is there a way, other than unsubscribing from each one every day, to get conversations to which one /has/ subscribed listed in the main section of My Space, and those to which I might /like/ to subscribe down the LH side?
I end up not looking at any which say 'no posts', when I might quite fancy one or two!
But that's Me. A lazy **.

LadyDig,
I am not sure what you mean, but try clicking on "Click here to see more Conversations" at the bottom of your list on your Personal Space. You should get all the conversations you have contributed to, and any you have subscribed to, in one big list.
Then add this to that address (in the address bar) and you should get an even simpler list. Remember to bookmark the page then, and you can get straight to all your conversations, no messing, and you will also see those with new posts very clearly.

I am sure Feisor will correct me if I am wrong, but it has worked for other people.

You mean it worked?
I can't remember the kind researcher who gave me the tip ages ago but it saves such a lot of time and faffing about. I did say thank you at the time, but I will say it again

That will straighten some of these winding corridors, perhaps?
(Muses) Why is this page suddenly green? Have to learn a new layout now, otherwise shall change the thingy, which seems a tad unfair before I give it a roadtest.
Thanks anyway. There'll now be a short pause......

It WORKS!! Ta everso Webbie. I suspect you may not be keen on such an er, appellation. What would you prefer? The whole bit?
Apology
Websailor Posted Apr 14, 2008
I am quite used to that appellation on here, and quite like it, I get called WS too if someone's in a hurry I have lots of names, depending who is talking to me, it's a wonder I know who I am most of the time
I am so glad it worked. Just don't lose the address for it. That is where I go first to see what new messages are up, then I go elsewhere. It enables you to go right back to your original threads if you need to dig out an old one.
Anyway, glad to be of service. Back later if I get time.

Sad that nobody needs me to scrub....
