A Poem: A Divine Image

Post 1

Deau

This is a poem by one of my favourite poets, William Blake. I first came into contact with Blake at secondry-school, as did many of us, with tiger tiger etc. I wince when I think of my reaction, testosterone is a powerful drug and I was sweating it at the time, i think!

Still, of all of his poems, the one I like best is constantly contested! Today though, the day I decide to post one, it's this one, enjoy;

A DIVINE IMAGE By William Blake

Cruelty has a Human Heart
And Jealousy a Human Face
Terror, the Human Form Divine
And Secrecy, the Human Dress

The Human Dress, is forged Iron
The Human Form, a fiery Forge.
The Human Face, a Furnace seal'd
The Human Heart, its hungry Gorge.
