Just back from a trip to the UK where I had to attend a seminar in London with my supervisors. I've been working on my PhD for far too long now and I'm determined to get it finished this year. As I'm now 61, it's about time. Why I even considered applying to do an external PhD at my advanced age is a mystery to all, including me, I suppose. Even more of a mystery is why the Open University accepted me. Anyway, if there is anyone out there who wants a real challenge, the OU is a great place to begin. Don't think they'll make it easy for you, as they won't. They demand the highest standards, and it's sometimes soooo hard and discouraging when you get a lot of criticism aimed at the writing you submit, particularly if you work from home by yourself and don't have any fellow students around for support.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
