Mid_summer's Greeting

We are nearly at the end of summer here in Scotland, the Mountain Ash trees in the garden have already leaves that are bronze.I like the sunshine and the warmth on my skin*sighs* but Autumn is usually a great season ,to see the landscape change when the trees drop their leaves is
Hasn't it been a quick summer this year they told you how many shopping days until Christmas on the radio
Mid_summer's Greeting

Officially, Autumn is nearly a month away but it already feels pretty autumnal in England. We haven't had much of a summer and we are running out of time for the arrival of some better weather. It was glorious yesterday but raining again today. I live in East Anglia where we usually get the best of the weather, but this has been one of the least sunny summers we've had in years

But think of the wonderful smell of Autumn ,chestnuts and bonfires and rosey cheeks and chunky wooly scarves to snuggle into.Oh and curling up in a pair of warm male arms while out walking with my Boyfriend*sigh*

Yes, that is a lovely picture. Curling up with a hot chocolate....after a leaf toss of course; though be sure the leaves are not wet!
Mid_summer's Greeting
xxxxxxxxxxxx Posted Sep 6, 2005
I almost forgot the hot chocolate and you do need to make sure those leaves are dryI would imagine that your autumn would be very colourful as you have some wonderful treesWhen does it begin to get cold?
Mid_summer's Greeting
SnowWhite Posted Sep 7, 2005
It varies of course, but cold isn;t really until mid november; nippy or "fresh" is october; though we have been known to have snow as early as Halowe'en and I can remember trick or treating with a snowsuit over my princess dress....... : (
Mid_summer's Greeting
xxxxxxxxxxxx Posted Sep 7, 2005
I hope your Princess dress never got crushed in the snowsuit
I really like Winter ,the skies are really clear and you can see the stars so much better.
It can be a bit difficult travelling in the snow, but it is beautiful except when it turns to slush and then freezes again!

My princess suit was crushed! : (
Winter can be gorgeous; I do always get caught up in the whole crystal magic kingdom of it; I love ice on the trees, and the fresh air; I mean, in winter the cold makes air feel truly fresh; unless you live by highway or something.....
It is just more sparse in it's enjoyment than summer I find........and I live in the city and the fresh snow gets filthy instantly and traffic and late buses and late for work and all that mess..............
But, I do love skating on the world's largest outdoor skating rink!
Mid_summer's Greeting

Sorry about your princess dress.
I to see the patterns the frost makes on the plants and trees
the biggest outdoor skating rinksounds great fun, what about sledging ,especially down hills into deep snowfriends and I to do that in the winter.Big kids at heart but blissfully happy
Mid_summer's Greeting
SnowWhite Posted Sep 13, 2005
I'm not as much for sledding; there seems to be alot of ice here as opposed to thick snow on the higher hills and I get scared. I don't like skiing downhill either; I get scared.
Soft snowy hills are fun though and I do that alot.
Do you have alot of snow in Scotland then? I never really pictured there being much snow there............
Mid_summer's Greeting

We do get snow we even have some ski resorts ,but the last couple of winters have been very wet and windy(storm force). They say it is due to global warming but who knows really, more an act of the gods prabably. We are on quite high ground and if it does snow , it drifts which is scarey ,snow so deep you cannot see the landscape
