A huge contrast to yesterday. Just The Boss and I cooking lunch together, eating watching the box and lying around and just chillin' out. I didn't even shave. Last year this time she was lying in intensive care with tubes going in and out of every natural orifice and some unnatural ones put there by surgeons. Can anyone wonder we are so happy this year.
Yesterday we were with The Son and family all day. The children were almost drowned in gifts as usual, far too much and The Boss and I were party to the over abundance. The Son cooked a splendid lunch, and after the four children put on a Christmas show. Each of them playing several parts and singing and dancing quite nicely. The Outlaws were there and were very good company, it was a real family time. At 2.oo p.m. we stayed our hands for a moment and lit a candle, explaining to the children that all over the world, in this time of peace and goodwill children were still dying because grown ups were still fighting. The candle did no good other than remind us all that the world can still be a terrible place.
I have daffodils in bloom in the garden, an amazing sight but much too early.
My bestest friend on hootoo took time out on Christmas day to e mail meHow great is that?
I went to midnight mass Christmas Eve. The church, candle lit, with a huge christmas tree and beautiful hangings on the otherwise bare walls looked wonderful. the hangings have been stitched over the years by local people. one of the best ones was stitched by a man.
When I came out at half past twelve I said Goodnight to The Lost Boy who is sleeping just by the Lych gate. We gave him yellow roses as it was Christmas and they were glowing softly in the light from the church windows. Such a peaceful place for him to be.
There are so many blessings in my life and this Christmas I am aware that things could be so very different.
Putting my thoughts down here for anyone to read is a strange thing to do.
