We went to church this morning. There was a very powerful sermon by the Arch Deacon of Cornwall. He said among other things that we should not be afraid of admitting we were Christians. I realised that I have in these journals always written I went to see A the V which is my code for Alan the vicar. I go to church every Wednesday morning if it is possible, and we go to some Sunday services. Why do I go? Because it is what I am used to. I am sure that I am not a good man but I do the best I can, and being reminded of how I should try to live my life is a good thing for me. The Boss said after the service that if we were Muslim we would be proud of our faith and Christians always seem to be ashamed of theirs. We talked about all the harm that religion of all types does to the human condition and decided that the problem was the way the message of the prophets had been perverted by men not the message itself.
We went to the Lamb and Flag for lunch it was very good but much more expensive than our usual haunts.
We drove back along the coast road through St Ives and Zennor.
I took some photographs it was so lovely.
On the Pz by pass the trees are the most amazing colours. Every colour of Autumn possible. Golden, red, brown, green and yellow, all there. Such a sight.
