Flying away on a wing and a prayer

Well, this is my first journal entry, but I've been fairly busy with work and other hobbies.

Right now, I've been planning a few jewelry projects for possible fund-raisers to raise money in Relay for Life. This event, held all night, raises money for the American Cancer Society. It's a lot of fun, but it's also for a very good cause.

Also, I've been rewatching shows of my favorite series, "The Greatest American Hero." The show, filmed in 1981-83, featured a school teacher named Ralph Hinkley who receives a suit from a group of aliens (called green guys) with unearthly powers and an instruction book on how to use it. Unfortunately, he lost the book and has to learn how to use the suit through trial and error. He's teamed up with an FBI agent named Bill Maxwell and has a girlfried, Pam Davidson. The show is quite fun and mixes comedy and action rather well.

Someone on that message board wondered if they were the same, but "GAH" and "My Hero" aren't. Ralph isn't an alien, nor are the powers in him, just the suit. This can and does cause problems for him, such as his head isn't protected and he gets knocked out a couple of times. Despite the problems, Ralph, Bill and Pam work together to solve mysteries, cases, and even stop a nuclear war happening. Unfortunately, the show lasted only three seasons and 43 episodes.

It's now celebrating it's 26th anniversary, and there are plans to celebrate it with a chat. I've been helping them with it, so it's been pretty busy in my free time there as well.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
