h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

We have just been completely devastated by the news of the death of a young friend of ours.

Christie was a beautiful 24 yr old South African who had come to England as an apprentice to a motorcycling friend of ours from the Isle of Man and was killed instantly when his motor cycle was in collision with an oil tanker on Friday.

We had been out to dinner with him only the week before and he was so enthusiastic about the beauty of the South Oxfordshire countryside and was telling me how beautiful his area of South Africa was and how he would love to show it to us.

He had a very strong faith in Jesus Christ and I can only hope that he is now in His arms.

I don't know why I am writing all this but life has taught me once again to treasure everyone around me.

I know you mentioned this on the MBs last week.

I am soooo sorry about Christie, there are no words, nothing.

All there is, is a belief in life and the thought that Christie is now safe, in a wonderful and peaceful place.

Appreciate the time you had with Christie, treasure the memory and hold on to the thought that Christie came into your life for a reason, you may never ever know what reason, but there WAS a reason.

I too, am so sorry about the death of your young friend. I think Brenda b is right, everything happens for a reason, although we can't see it at the time. We think: How can that happen to someone so young?

The friend I was on holiday with has a daughter who was married to a young man with a passion for motor-bikes. He was killed on his way home from signing the contracts for their new house and new future.
So sad.

Thing is, the more friends we have, the more love we receive and the more sorrow as well.

You are in my thoughts.
